Whatever we are, if we're applying the seven steps to grace from the Edgar Cayce readings, we are moving from the path of cause and effect, or karma, into the law of grace. It's real simple. Here they are:
1. Be kind to each other; be gentle with each other even when you feel like knocking each other in the head. Be kind and be gentle, if you want to be a channel for God's love.
2. Bring peace to individuals, and to groups, and to situations, rather than contention. Oh, it's so much fun to bring contention. I know. I have tried it.
3. Right acts, the readings say, include right thoughts. Righteousness means "right acts." You've got to be aware, conscious of more than just what is required - more aware in terms of right acts and right thoughts.
4. The readings say not to be hurt by harsh words, if you want grace in your life. You're going to run into some harsh words. I run into them quite frequently!
5. The readings say, too, that you must choose according to your ideals if you are really going to work with grace in your life. Set your ideals and be conscious of choosing your thoughts and speech. Act according to your ideals.
6. For grace to enter, you've got to stop condemning yourself and others.
7. And finally the seventh step, which I'm sure must be connected with the opening of the seven seals - forgive yourself and others.
This is what we are really all about - communicating, manifesting God's love. If we can see ourselves as the A.R.E. and can relate to these ways of living, we will then begin to communicate in a very real sense.
Hugh Lynn Cayce was the son of Edgar Cayce, and wrote and worked for the Association for Research and Enlightment, founded by Edgar Cayce in 1931 for the promotion of holistic health and wellness and study of transpersonal topics.
