Combat boots are now viewed as "hip" to most youth, and it maintains a reputation as one clothing accessory that appeals to a wide variety of people. Urban culture, for example, plays a large part in the success of combat boot sales. They have come a long way since their creation and have radically transformed into a market in itself, spawning several successful brands of boots.

They were specifically and obviously designed for combat. Boots of this nature needed to be tough, water-proof, and easy to lace. Obviously, they have become more "fashionable" over the years.
