"So what's the plan today?" I'd ask one of my close friends this very question each week and he would always respond "let's take over the world!". Something he stole from the cartoons of course, but I like his frame of mind. Obviously taking over the world isn't possible. What he actually means is "I want to take control of my world" and that would take some considerable planning.
I'm the type of person who's into video games. I remember when I was younger, I would spend endless hours playing the famous "Super Mario Brothers" game trying to save the princess, collecting all the coins and eating all the mushrooms. I would die (not me, Mario) in the game, coming across new hurdles and enemies every stage. The advantage I had though, every time Mario loses a life, I could start all over again and know exactly what to do so that I could get to the next stage. Life is not as easy as the game, but what if you knew or could predict what would happened?
In many cases, we can not predict what will exactly happen in the future, otherwise everyone will become millionaires, tipping the next set of numbers in the weekly lotto. We can't predict our future, so what is the plan?? Another good friend of mine who just happens to live 6 floors above me, has a life what most people dream of. He has a wife who's retired, a beautiful son, several properties, a side business with growing passive income and a job that he loves. In essence, this is the future what most people would dream of.
So here's the solution! Do you know anyone who is an expert in achieving the life that you want? Whether you want to be a musician, professional athlete, the best lawyer in the world...whatever it may be, you need a mentor to show you how they did it. Unfortunately we don't get 50 lives like Mario. The next question you must ask yourself is this: Are you willing to do what they did to achieve the goals, lifestyle and dreams you want? If the answer is yes, there will be a price to pay and sacrifices involved. This is what I have learnt.
